RPGamer Round-Up: June 1 – June 8

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the intervening period. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

 

 


Editorial Content

With the arrival of the Switch 2, the RPGamer staff felt it appropriate to help commemorate its predecessor. Join us in celebrating some of the standouts in a stacked library of games.

Rewinding time is both a blessing and a curse. Sam Wachter finds that while Maliki: Poison of the Past is not a bad game, it unfortunately needed to rewind itself to fix some of its core gameplay elements and add a dash of fun.

Capcom re-released its PlayStation 2 action adventure Onimusha 2: Samurai Destiny with plenty of changes. Ryan Costa sees if they make the title worth revisiting.

Turn-based tabletop fairy tale RPG Marisa of Liartop Mountain aims to combine quirky antics with a dice-based encounter system and a puzzle-like attitude to progression. Ryan Costa got an early look at its updated demo to see how it’s coming along.

Snail Games and Loric Games are currently working hard on survival RPG Echoes of Elysium. RPGamer was able to get a look at the game’s airship focus ahead of its Steam Next Fest demo release.

 


Major News

Square Enix announced a new remaster for Final Fantasy Tactics. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will come in enhanced and classic versions on PC and consoles this September.

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced action RPG Nioh 3. The game will launch in early 2026, but a limited time alpha demo is available on PS5 now.

Owlcat Games has announced The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. The game is a narrative third-person action RPG set in universe of The Expanse sci-fi TV and novel series.

505 Games and ArtPlay announced the latest title in the Bloodstained series. Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement will take players to an English castle when it launches in 2026.

Thirsty Suitors developer Outerloop Games unveiled Dosa Divas: One Last Meal. The spicy narrative turn-based RPG follows two sisters fighting back against a rotten fast food empire.

 

 

Bandai Namco revealed a follow-up to 2019 action RPG Code Vein. Code Vein II will launch next year for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Bandai Namco announced a release date for Digimon Story Time Stranger. Players will venture between the real and digital worlds this October.

Brass Lion Entertainment announced action RPG Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver. Conceived as a tie-in to Ghostface Killah and RZA’s upcoming Angel of Dust film, it sees players fighting to save the Wu-Tang’s home of Shaolin.

Onion Games announced that its latest title is coming west later this year. Cult fairy tale RPG Stray Children will release on both PC and Switch.

Neowiz and Round8 Studio have given Lies of P’s Overture expansion a stealth launch. The expansion, which acts as a prequel, is available now on PC and consoles.
