Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Announced for Next Year

Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay have announced Metroidvania/action RPG Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, the latest title in the Bloodstained series that acts as a spiritual successor to Castlevania. The game is planned to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2026, and is available to wishlist on all platforms.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement takes place in the Ethereal Castle in 16th-century England, from which Demon Lord Elias has cast a shadow over the nearby inhabitants. After many before them have failed to vanquish the threat, heroes Leonard Brandon and Alexander Kyteler embark on one final attempt. Leo is a fighter from the Church’s Black Wolves clan, while Alex is a knight of the kingdom’s White Stags who previously survived an earlier expedition. The game will have various other characters with voice acting in English and Japanese.

The Ethereal Castle is said to be the largest map created for the series so far. Players will need to search the castle and defeat foes to gain new gear, crafting ingredients, and magical abilities to be able to explore further in the castle. They control both Leo and Alex at the same time using the game’s “Buddy System”, where they directly control one character with the other assisting. Players can swap at any time to utilise their different abilities.
