Nioh 3 Announced, Limited Time Demo Available
Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja have announced Nioh 3, a new title in the action RPG series set in an alternate version of Japan’s Sengoku era. The game is planned to release for PC and PlayStation 5 in early 2026. A limited time alpha demo is available on PlayStation 5 from now up until June 18, 2025, with Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja asking for feedback from players, which can be submitted on the game’s official website.
Nioh 3 puts players in the apparent role of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the future founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, as he battles against various yokai. The game is said to be set in an open field that players can freely explore, including villages, challenges in the Crucible, and new hostile environments.
Combat will let players switch between two different styles: Samurai and Ninja. Samurai style is said to be similar to that of previous games in the series, with some new abilities, while Ninja style makes use of quick movements like dodging and aerial actions as well as various special Ninjitsu techniques. The game will also include online multiplayer, with players able to assist and seek help from others using its “Summon Visitor” mode, as well as the returning Expeditions from the previous games.
