Nioh 3’s Hell Rising DLC Releasing in August

Koei Tecmo announced that the first DLC for Team Ninja’s action RPG Nioh 3 will release on August 19, 2026. The Hell Rising DLC sees players head to a new stage: 1651 Edo, in the Keian era, which has been taken over by the Crucible. There, protagonist Takechiyo joins up with one-eyed swordsman Yagyu Jubei and Spanish envoy Rodrigo to fight against new yokai and uncover new mysteries. The DLC, available separately or as part of the game’s Season Pass alongside a second forthcoming DLC, also includes new hoko and shield weapon types, a new “Enlightened One’s Journey” difficulty level, new customisable challenge battles, new skills, and more.

Nioh 3 is currently available on PC and PlayStation 5. The game follows protagonist Tokugawa Takechiyo after he is stripped of his position as the next shogun in the Sengoku era, with his younger brother Tokugawa Kunimatsu leading a horde of yokai against him, resulting in a calamity known as the Crucible. His guardian spirit Kusanagi gives Tokugawa Takechiyo the opportunity to transcend time and save Japan by visiting multiple eras. The game will also include online multiplayer, with players able to assist and seek help from others using its “Summon Visitor” mode, as well as the returning Expeditions from the previous games.
