Owlcat Games Unveils The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

Developer and publisher Owlcat Games announced it has partnered with Alcon Interactive Group to create The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. The game is a narrative third-person action RPG set in the universe of The Expanse sci-fi TV and novel series. It is development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though a release window has not been announced.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is billed as expanding upon the universe depicted in the TV and novel series, which is set in a future where humanity has colonised the Solar System. Players are put in the role of a Pinkwater Security mercenary stranded on Eros Station during a lockdown. They will need to lead a crew and take command of the most advanced ship in the Solar System. The game will include locations from the series such as Ganymede, Ceres, Mars, and Luna, and will also include some familiar faces from the TV show, with certain actors reprising their roles.

The game lets players create their own character, choosing from Earther, Martian, or Belter origins. Squadmates will have their pasts and motives, with their loyalty impacted by player decisions. Combat sees players joined by two squadmates in battle and will include strategic cover mechanics with abilities and squad coordination options. The developer confirmed that the original Mass Effect trilogy is an inspiration for the game and that it will include romance options.
