E3 has been in the books for nearly a week now. That’s enough time for our staff to collect their thoughts and pick out some of their personal highlights from the event.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will give RPGamers the chance to play through the Dragon Ball Z series when it releases next year. Pascal Tekaia was able to spend some time with the game, trying out a few side activities before facing off against Raditz.
Conan Chop Chop is a four-player co-op title where players control stick-figure versions of characters from the Conan universe. Pascal Tekaia was able to try the game out at E3 ahead of its September release.
The Infinity Gauntlet saga may have dealt with in the MCU, but the cast of Ultimate Alliance still needs to face off against Thanos and his minions. RPGamer’s Pascal Tekaia was able to check out the upcoming third game in the brawler series, which releases in just a month’s time.
Friend Computer was at E3 to help ensure a smooth operation for the expo. Fortunately, Pascal Tekaia was able to check out Paranoia: Happiness Is Mandatory without exhibiting any treasonous behaviour.
The World of Darkness is returning to video games with a number of officially licenced titles. Pascal Tekaia got to see a demo for Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood at this year’s E3.
Asgard’s Wrath is a fully-fledged VR RPG coming later this year to Oculus Rift. RPGamer’s Charalampos Papadimitriou was able to check out the game’s E3 demo, which sees players controlling a god with the power to possess mortal beings.
At this year’s E3, RPGamer’s Pascal Tekaia was able to chat with a very busy Naoki Yoshida about Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. While Pascal himself isn’t an active player of the MMORPG, the staff players sitting at home were able to arm him with plenty of questions.
Bless Unleashed is an MMORPG coming to Xbox One later this year. RPGamer’s Charalampos Papadimitriou was able to check out the game at E3, where he was also able to chat with producer David Jaloza about a large number of aspects of the game.
E3 may, on the face of it, be primarily about the games, but it’s also the opportunity for organisations to make their mark on the industry. Charalampos Papadimitriou was able to talk to the ESA Foundation’s Executive Director, Anastasia Staten, about its work on inclusivity in gaming and underrepresented populations.
Cris Tales is billed as a love-letter to classic JRPGs, but makes its own distinct mark in several ways. Pascal Tekaia was able to check out how Crisbell’s time manipulation powers help in both questing and combat.
Pascal Tekaia offers a second impression on Final Fantasy VII Remake’s E3 demo. Though the previous reveals for the game have made him nervous, the remake’s gameplay has served to alleviate at least some of his concerns.
