RPGamer Round-Up: July 5 – July 12
Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the intervening period. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

One of the great things about being an RPGamer is being transported to all kinds of wondrous worlds and settings. We asked our volunteer team to pick out and share some of their favourites.
ACE Entertainment’s Tales of Seikyu adds to the cozy life sim RPG offerings available for RPGamers. While perhaps lacking anything to make it fully stand out, it nonetheless offers a charming and overall enjoyable experience.
Echo Generation 2 bravely breaks the mold of its turn-based predecessor. While this may leave some players wanting, it mostly sticks the landing with a new combat system and some lofty narrative ambitions.
Disgaea Mayhem is set to put an action RPG spin on the Disgaea franchise later this month. RPGamer was given the opportunity to put some questions to Nippon Ichi Software about the game and its translation of the series to a new sub-genre.
The Brigandine strategy RPG series returns once more with Brigandine: Abyss. Ahead of the game’s August release, RPGamer was able to get a demonstration of one of the game’s new Event Battles.
The first week of #JRPGJuly is in the books. Let’s see how things are starting out for the RPGamer staff with their chosen games.
Anime Expo
Artist and character designer Yoshitaka Amano was present as a Guest of Honor at Anime Expo 2026 to discuss his upcoming animation project, ZAN. RPGamer sat down to talk with Amano and his team about the project, his new company, and his upcoming exhibitions.
Arc System Works was available at Anime Expo 2026 to give an early look at tactical timeline RPG Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow. RPGamer was able to sit down with Director and Game Designer Satoshi Hirayae to ask some questions about the game and check out a boss fight ahead of its September release.
Elementa Games was present at Anime Expo 2026 with an ornate, exciting booth to show off Silver Palace. RPGamer was able to check out a demo of the game to experience its combat, world, and a few bosses.
Major News
Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be shutting down in October. The free-to-play title released for PC and mobile in 2023.
Playstack and Cold Symmetry announced a release date for Mortal Shell II. The action RPG will release on PC and consoles in mid-August.
- Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Switch 2 Version Receives Update, DLC for Free
- Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Introduces Companion Saro
Owlcat Games released an update for the Switch 2 version of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, as well as making the game’s DLC free on the console as an apology for its launch issues. The developer also released its latest companion trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy.
Nearly five years after the game’s launch, Lost Pilgrims Studio has released its final planned content update for Vagrus: The Riven Realms. With the final chapter of the Expedition storyline, the game is now in what the developer calls its definitive edition.
Flashlight Games and Death Kumiai have delayed the release of dark story-rich RPG Annihilated. Previously planned to launch this month, the game will now arrive towards the end of the year.
NIS America released a demo for Disgaea Mayhem ahead of the action RPG’s launch later this month. Players can check out all seven weapon types across three stages.
Firesquid Games and Quickfire Games announced that Prelude Dark Pain will release on Steam Early Access later this month. The dark fantasy tactical RPG is expected to fully release in around a year.
