Echoes of Aincrad Trailer Highlights Death Game Mode

Bandai Namco released its latest trailer for Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online ahead of its release later this week. The newest video highlights the game’s Death Game Mode, which emulates its premise of players being stuck in a VRMMORPG where death in-game also means dying in real life by enforcing a single save file with no ability to respawn, deleting the file if the player is defeated. The mode is unlocked after completing the game or by purchasing its Deluxe or Ultimate Edition.

Echoes of Aincrad offers a retelling of the first arc in the Sword Art Online light novel and anime series. Players control a fully customisable character who is one of the players trapped in the game, soon reunited with a fellow beta tester called Iori. It will also include characters from the original series, including Kirito and Asuna. The game, developed by Game Studio Inc., will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on July 10, 2026, with a demo currently available.
