RPGamer Round-Up: March 16 – March 23

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the intervening period. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Obsidian’s return to the world of Eora comes with a brand new coat of paint. Fortunately, Zack Webster finds that the coat of paint that is Avowed turns out to be is a really fun action RPG.

The latest Steam Next Fest gave players the opportunity to try out a huge host of titles in development. The RPGamer staff was able to try out a small selection of the demos on offer.

Drop Bear Bytes’s cRPG Broken Roads released just under a year ago. Studio founder and game director joined RPGamer’s Jahwon Corbett to discuss the game’s reception, ongoing improvements, and more.


Major News

Bandai Namco held its Digimon Con 2025 event, during which it provided new details for Digimon Story Time Stranger. The presentation included introductions to the game’s story, setting, and main characters.

Board game Frosthaven is getting a video game adaptation. The dark fantasy tactical RPG is planned to release on Steam Early Access, with a playtest beginning next week.

A new blog post on PlayStation.com revealed more details about the upcoming Lunar Remastered Collection. Producer Matthias Pergams provided some details on the changes and options available in the collection.

 

 

Longdue’s spiritual successor to Disco Elysium, Hopetown, is undergoing a Kickstarter campaign. Stretch goals include music made by The Witcher 3 composer and story written by Disco Elysium writer.

Secret Mode and Silent Games announced that Empyreal will release in early May. The sci-fi action RPG will be avaialble on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Nightdive Studios announced a June release date for the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. The remastered version of the FPS-RPG will be available on PC and consoles.

Idea Factory International announced a May western release date for Death end re;Quest: Code Z. The game will be available on PS4 and PS5, with its Switch release having previously been scrapped.

Maximum Entertainment, Merge Games, and Kappa Bits revealed that Pixelshire will release for PC within the next couple of months. The sandbox life sim will also arrive on PS5 and Switch later this year.

Red Essence Games and indie.io revealed an April release date for Traveler’s Refrain on Steam. The game is billed as a song-casting, story-driven action RPG.
