Lunar Remastered Collection Features Detailed
In a new blog post on PlayStation.com, GungHo Online Entertainment producer Matthias Pergams provided some extra details on the upcoming Lunar Remastered Collection. The bundle contains remasters of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete and will release on April 18, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch (with support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S).
The collection will include a variety of quality-of-life features, including an adjustable Battle Speed-Up option in both games, a toggleable unified inventory system for the first game, and customisable character AI behavior for the first game’s battles. It will also include “Remastered Mode” and “Classic Mode” for both games. Remastered Mode features remastered graphics with updated in-game effects, UI, animated cutscenes, bromides (in-game collectible cards), and more, as well as a new widescreen aspect ratio. Meanwhile, Classic Mode features the original graphics, including a CRT filter. The collection will also include a brand-new English voice cast. Many members of the original development staff, including the original composer, scenario writer, and character designer were consulted on the remaster, with character designer Toshiyuki Kubooka providing three new pieces of key artwork.
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete is a remake of 1992 Sega CD title Lunar: The Silver Star and was originally released for Sega Saturn in Japan in 1996, making its western debut on PlayStation in 1999. The game starts in the village of Burg, where Alex dreams of emulating his hero, Dragonmaster Dyne. He sets out on a journey with his friends; however, the emergence of the Magic Emperor puts the world in peril.
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete is a remake of 1994 Sega CD title Lunar: Eternal Blue. It was released for Sega Saturn in Japan in 1998, before coming to North America on PlayStation in 2000. It is set a thousand years after the events of Lunar: Silver Star Story and follows a young adventurer named Hiro. While exploring an ancient tower, he encounters Lucia, who demands to be taken to the Goddess Althena.
