Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Getting Naval DLC in June

Developer TaleWorlds Entertainment announced upcoming DLC for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, which combines sandbox, action RPG, and strategy elements. The War Sails DLC will release on June 17, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S alongside a new free update.

War Sails introduces naval combat to the game, as well as a brand new Viking-inspired faction — the Nords — that specialises in seafaring and close-quarters combat. It adds a northern region, a settled island, coastal waters, and open seas to the world of Calradia, with the game’s dynamic weather system including storms and trade winds. The new naval systems integrate with the existing trade, warfare, and diplomacy, with ship production and new trade goods adding to regional variety, while coastal towns may benefit from the new trade options but may also run afoul of pirates and invasions.

The naval combat features realistic wind and water physics, with players able to board enemies from multiple points, ram them, or attack from afar. There will be eighteen different ship types, which can be customised with siege engines, cargo holds, sails, rams, and more. Players will also be able to capture enemy ships. Other additions include new nautical skills for characters as well as new weapons and amror, plus the new mariner troop type. A new questline will also introduce players to sailing the waters of Calradia.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a follow-up to 2010’s Mount & Blade: Warband and originally released in 2022. It takes place 200 years before the events of Warband with the Caldrian Empire on the verge of collapse, with civil war and new groups seeking to establish their own power. The game sees players raising their own army to claim glory.
