Koch Media Unveils Prime Matter Label, Upcoming Releases

Koch Media, parent company of publisher Deep Silver and a number of development studios, has announced a new publishing label, Prime Matter. The reveal of the publishing label comes with the announcement of multiple new titles, as well as signing of previously-revealed games for the label, including a selection of RPGs.

King’s Bounty II, which was previously set to be published by Deep Silver, will be the first game to be published by Prime Matter when it launches on its unchanged release date of August 24, 2021. The game, developed by 1C Entertainment, will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Prime Matter will also be publishing Brazilian developer Massive Work Studio’s Dolmen. The game is an action RPG in a cosmic-horror sci-fi setting that underwent a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign in 2018. It features both melee and ranged combat, and is set on the hostile planet of Revion Prime. Crafting is a major part of the game, with players creating new weapons and gear using materials dropped by various enemies. It will include single-player and multiplayer modes when it launches for PC and consoles in 2022.

Dark Crystal Games’ Encased is another RPG to be published by Prime Matter. Also previously undergoing a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2018, Encased is a turn-based sci-fi RPG where players explore the Dome, a structure found in a remote desert. The Dome has been constructed by an alien civilisation, with players controlling a new recruit for the CRONUS Foundation from one of its five “Wings” as they investigate the Dome’s secrets. Encased is set to launch in September 2021 for PC.

A brand new title announcement is The Last Oricru from developer GoldKnights. It is a third-person action RPG heavily based on choice, with players finding numerous characters attempting to gain their trust. The game is set in a warring fantasy world with many factions to side with or betray. The game can be played solo or in co-op, including local split-screen co-op, and is planned to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2022.

Finally, Prime Matter will be publishing a number of upcoming versions and releases of other titles. Warhorse Studios is partnering with Saber Interactive for a Nintendo Switch version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Outward: Definitive Edition is heading to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Phoenix Point and Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord are also heading to unspecified consoles.

In non-RPG news, Prime Matter’s lineup will also include a brand new Painkiller title; Scars Above, a sci-fi adventure title from Serbia-based Mad Head Games; Codename Final Form, a futuristic first-person shooter from Polish developer Reikon Games; Gungrave G.O.R.E., a third-person shooter from Korean studio IGGYMOB; Echoes of the End, a story-driven single-player adventure from Icelandic developer Myrkyr Games; and The Chant, a psychological thriller from Canadian studio Brass Token.
