Final Fantasy IV DS Review
Is the second verse not that much different than the first? Does it really for a game that’s this old? I think not.
The kingdom of Baron is on a zealous quest to collect all the elemental crystals. The commander of its air force, Cecil, is dismissed after questioning the king’s motives. With the help of of wizards, warriors, and others, he sets out to stop the growing threat that is Baron — and in the process, unveils a far more insidious enemy.

The anticipated remake of a game we all love hits store shelves soon. Will the overhaul live up to the high expectations of both fanboys and first timers? Knowledge is a click away.
If there were a staff review of Final Fantasy IV Advance, would it look something like this?
Jason and Robert have a weeb-off. Kelley dies for two days and wakes up in her own sweat. Chris goes to a store that’s half comics, half anime, and half body pillows. Bullseye!
The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are hitting PS4 and Switch in just a couple of weeks. The console release come with new features, including gameplay boosts and a new font.
As many anticipated, the Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remasters are coming to additional platforms. Announced on the series’ 35th anniversary, the collections will launch for PS4 and Switch in spring.
Chris says the quiet things out loud, and challenges Anna Marie to play a gacha game without spending money. Kelley gets distracted by a three-headed monkey, while Josh ponders why the ten rings sounds like Jarvis.
The fourth Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster has a release date. Players will be able to join up with Cecil and company in the second week of September.
The first six entries in the Final Fantasy series are coming to PC via Steam and mobile devices with the announcement of Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters. The games will release individually.
The RPG Cast has dived head first into #JRPGJuly in our now playing, but since the new month has rolled over, that also means new bugs and fish to catch in Animal Crossing as well! We’ve got a slew of editorial content to discuss and a smattering of news. Stay safe during the holiday weekend!
Guest star Sam Watcher joins us, and that means this week’s podcast is officially explicit! Between the occasion cuss bomb, we discuss Animal Crossing and Chris’ poor decision making, Alex’s dive into Persona 5 Royal, and exactly why Kelley needs to finish FF7: Crisis Core in the near future. Anna Marie and Peter round out the ‘cast crew this week as we dive into the weekly headlines along with your feedback.
This RPG Cast was recorded in the dark before a dead studio audience. Josh fails at Fire Emblem. Jonathan becomes a rock star. Kelley pines for Garrus. Chris gets spooked. And Anna Marie harvests squid poop. Yeah it’s a weird show.
Anna Marie is finally back (and a little loopy on painkillers). There’s ample fawning for Mass Effect in our Now Playing, as Kelley chooses an unusual romantic encounter! Arguments break out over March and April’s packed release schedule, but a truce is eventually reached.
Today we learned that Pokémon Home may rival Kingdom Hearts for difficult to understand stories. The Switch is finally getting some Outer Worlds love. And Anna Marie passes a kidney stone. Well not live on the show or anything. I’m just really tired of waiting for this stupid stoooooh…we’re still recording? Um…enjoy the show everyone!
It’s Alice’s first appearance of the decade! Ther crew is rounded out by Alex, Anna Marie, Chris, Kelley and Peter who are back to discuss your treasured memories of the last decade, as well as the news, reviews, and releases from the last few weeks. Wasn’t there supposed to be a break from releases…?
We’re back and better* than ever! On this special episode of the RPGCast we do a deeper dive into what we’ve been playing and discuss our holiday hauls.
*Note: RPG Cast 526 may not actually be better than any other previous RPG Cast.
This week, Alex and Anna Marie can talk about their embargoed games, Peter finishes a game, and Chris worries about his cats. Kelley’s question of the week leads us down rabbit holes we probably shouldn’t have explored, but we’re doing it live and that’s how we roll.
While Fire Emblem: Three Houses seems to finally be put aside by most folks, a few are still learning the dangerous pitfalls of gift giving. As usual, cats and Robin Williams are discussed. Then someone pre-orders Pantsu Hunter and someone else tries to shove CDs into an iPhone to get monsters.
It’s the final countdown! Chris and Anna Marie are joined by regular Kelley and irregular Jonathan, who always brings interesting games and hardware to discuss. April Fool’s just passed, and several companies got silly. We also considered piles of feedback in the Question of the Week. We’ll miss you all, see you in six weeks.
Which is better: Final Fantasy IV or Final Fantasy VI? The Backtrack crew tackles this debate and FF composer Nobuo Uematsu until we can’t stand...
