At the time I’m posting this it’s Tokyo Mirage Sessions Encore, but since this’ll be read after it releases I’ll take the Xenoblade Chronicles remaster for RPGs.

QOTW: I wanna say I’m excited for Animal Crossing New Horizons, but I have reservations. I’m none too happy with the gathering and crafting elements they showed off in the trailers. I despise crafting/gathering and for me that’s like taking a beautiful cut of steak of throwing a turd on top. Sure, there’s still a tasty steak there, but there’s a turd on top of it.

My immediate go to answer is Final Fantasy VII Remake. I know not everyone is sold on the idea of taking their favorite turn based RPG and making it more action focused and adding/altering story beats, but I am. It’ll never replace the original, but I’m ready to add to my love of VII.

But my absolute answer of most anticipated game of 2020 so far is Ori and the Will of the Wisp. I loved the original to death; beautiful graphics, gorgeous music, and a tear jerking, tug at your heart strings story. I cannot wait to play more of that and cry my eyes out all over again!

QOTW – Bravely Default II tops my list of 2020 releases. Though we know little about the game at this point, having Revo return for the soundtrack leaves me convinced that it will be terrific.

The Seiken Densetsu 3 remake is a close runner-up as it looks to be a much higher quality effort than what was done for Secret of Mana.

QoTW – As much as I hate to admit it, I’m most looking forward to World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. The afterlife-based story, and its possibility of bringing back past heroes and villains without using resurrection or time travel, intrigues me.

There’s one caveat. After the miserable disaster that was the Battle for Azeroth expansion, I might not necessarily buy or play Shadowlands in 2020. I might let my subscription expire, then wait until a month before flying becomes unlockable with the Shadowlands Pathfinder achievement, and then buy the expansion in order to fulfill the requirements.

World of Warcraft is nowhere near as much fun when it doesn’t have flying, and in my opinion that includes all of WoW Classic.

  5. I am SO excited for Bravely Default II! It’s amazing how much I’ve come to love the two previous games, so I have high hopes for the Switch game. Just hearing that what I assume is the game’s main theme gave me goosebumps!
