RPG Cast – Episode 532: “Meowls”

Anna Marie is finally back (and a little loopy on painkillers). There’s ample fawning for Mass Effect in our Now Playing as Kelley chooses an unusual romantic encounter! Arguments break out over March and April’s packed release schedule, but a truce is eventually reached.

QotW: I recommend whatever makes the Mako not handle like a steakhouse when it’s built like a bistro.

Also, in light of the confusion over Red XIII’s species (canine or feline) I recommend adopting the same stance we adopted for Raikou/Entei/Suicune 20 years ago. Red XIII is therefore a gerbil affected by the Mako.

    Meowls are pretty adorable.

  3. Picross Lord of the Nazarick is based on the Overlord anime, and it has indeed been released domestically. Funimation has released all three seasons on Bluray and DVD, and has it streaming on their website and app.

I’ve only seen the first episode of Overlord, so I can’t speak to its quality. It is one of the many isekai web/light novel series adapted into anime. :p

QOTW: As someone who made a Top 10 Favorite Games of the Decade video recently and placed certain Mass Effect games somewhere pretty high on said video, I think I have some insight here 😁

ME1: The only one that adds anything is Bring Down the Sky, but it’s one very brief scene and (potentially) additional Galactic Readiness in ME3 (if the right choices in ME1 are made) that one could take it or leave it.

ME2: Zaeed and Kasumi are definite gets, because who doesn’t want a full roster? ‘Lair of the Shadow Broker’ and ‘Arrival’ are also must gets. ‘Overlord’ was great, but less impactful to the story and, again, adds only a little bit to ME3 later if you do things right. And ‘Firewalker’ can be skipped, imo.

ME3: CITADEL! Get Citadel without hesitation! Best DLC of the trilogy! ‘From Ashes’ for full roster, and to watch Liara’s reactions to said character if you put them together when you go to the Asari homeworld (kind of worth it to be honest). ‘Leviathan’ honestly shouldn’t be DLC, but should’ve just been in the game; pretty heavy and important lore stuff there. The ‘Omega’ DLC was really fun, but, again, not as important (even if it does temporarily give you the game’s first female Turian party member).

I hope my opinions helped inform your decision, Kelley.
