The first week of #JRPGJuly is in the books. Let’s see how things are starting out for the RPGamer staff with their chosen games.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! To be a JRPG fan and spreading good cheer! #JRPGJuly is the hap-happiest time, of the year! Welcome to another year of #JRPGJuly, where RPGamer staff will be celebrating the month sharing our love of JRPGs with the community through streams and write-ups.
Anna Marie wonders why we can’t be friends. Jonathan becomes a Marbula One fan. Kelley engages “pants off, games on” mode. And Chris learns that the only person he’s cheating is himself…and his dire gryphon.
Anna Marie briefly stops by to tell us about what she’s been playing while recovering. The Series X has a price now, will the PS5 get one this week? Also, PAX is happening!
Whatcha Playing is back to round up the games the staff played in March and April. Dragon Quest III, Trails games, Trials of Mana, and Persona 5 Royal were among the many vying for staff gaming time as we stayed indoors during the lockdown.
This RPG Cast was recorded in the dark before a dead studio audience. Josh fails at Fire Emblem. Jonathan becomes a rock star. Kelley pines for Garrus. Chris gets spooked. And Anna Marie harvests squid poop. Yeah it’s a weird show.
Anna Marie is finally back (and a little loopy on painkillers). There’s ample fawning for Mass Effect in our Now Playing, as Kelley chooses an unusual romantic encounter! Arguments break out over March and April’s packed release schedule, but a truce is eventually reached.
While it’s a bit later than usual, the RPGamer staff have decided to check in on last year’s resolutions. Did they make their 2019 goals? Let’s see what the staff have in store for 2020.

What’s old is new again as we deep dive into WoW Classic and how the heck did we even get onto this topic again? News from TGS, what games you’re playing in September, and even more releases coming in the second half of the month, please pity our reviewers.
We’re back from PAX and have forty impressions to share with you. We got a cat, Peter’s getting a baby, Kelley’s getting a vacation, Alice got a ring, and Alex got Musou-ed.
August has ended and Whatcha Playing is back to round up the games that hooked our staff. The newest Fire Emblem has unsurprisingly gotten a lot of play, but some rereleases have also caught our staff’s attention.
While Fire Emblem: Three Houses seems to finally be put aside by most folks, a few are still learning the dangerous pitfalls of gift giving. As usual, cats and Robin Williams are discussed. Then someone pre-orders Pantsu Hunter and someone else tries to shove CDs into an iPhone to get monsters.
Remember your lost days of innocence? Neither do we. Peter, Kelley, Josh, Matt, Chris, and Anna Marie all prove they shouldn’t be trusted with a podcast this week. Then we investigate whether…oh no, look out! Fraulein!
We hope you’re not sick of Fire Emblem: Three Houses from last week, because we’ve got even more this episode. We discuss strategies for raising professor rank and recruiting, in case you need some tips. We also cover a variety of games and their official release dates. Finally, our briefs are more like long underwear this week.
