RPGamer Round-Up: July 23 – July 30

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

 


Editorial Content

Arcadian Atlas weaves a treacherous and intriguing tale about a dysfunctional royal family in the kingdom of Arcadia. Jared Prewitt finds its simplistic and familiar tactical turn-based combat and a narrative focus with character development makes this indie title a decently enchanting experience.

RPGamer’s Sarah McGarr gave her report after the first day of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest wrapped up. She saw a lot, experienced a lot, and participated a lot, while Soken played a Otamatone.

#JRPGJuly has finished its third week. Let’s see how things are going for the RPGamer staff.


Major News

Final Fantasy XIV’s Las Vegas Fan Fest provided plenty of news for the MMORPG. The opening keynote revealed its fifth expansion and upcoming Xbox Series X|S release, while director and producer Naoki Yoshida also answered various press questions and revealed what’s coming in its next major updates.

Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has escaped what is already an incredibly packed year. Rabbit & Bear Studios’s title is now set to launch in Q2 of next year.

In addition to licencing a novel adapatation of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Nihon Falcom is partnering to produce a pair of tabletop RPGs. Promethium Books will be releasing titles based on Ys and The Legend of Heroes next year.

Nihon Falcom provided some further details and images for Ys X: Nordics. As befitting a modern RPG, the game will give players plenty of opportunities to engage in some fishing.

A new video gives an almost twenty minute look at the new Lords of the Fallen. Included are several areas and boss fights as well as info on the game’s parallel worlds and cooperative multiplayer.

Ryū ga Gotoku Studio released new details for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The update introduces some of the characters Kiryu will be facing as he tries to cut off his past.

Square Enix released new details and screenshots for Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai. The update covers some basic combat for the action RPG and its playable characters’ abilities.
