Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Introduces Main Cast

Ryū ga Gotoku Studio released new information and screenshots for the upcoming Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The new update introduces some of the main characters in the game, which is set between the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name sees Kazuma Kiryu returning as protagonist, though he has cut his ties to his past in the Dragon of Dojima as well as the Morning Glory Orphanage. Using the name “Joryu”, he currently spends his time aimlessly taking on missions from the Daidoji Faction. The game begins with Kiryu participating in a mission at a gold smuggling site in Yokohama, but the mission is interrupted by an unknown gang who seems to recognise Kiryu.

Other main characters include Kosei Shishido, the best lieutenant of the Watase family. Part of the Omi Alliance, which has become the most powerful criminal organisation in Japan, the Watase family’s leader is Masaru Watase is next in line to becomes its chairman. Kosei is known is for ruling through fear and having disregard for his victims. Yuki Tsuruno is a captain and the second-highest ranking member of the Watase family. He is known for meticulous planning and sets a number of traps for Kiryu.

Meanwhile, Akame is a jack-of-all-trades based in Sotenbori, Osaka. She has her own network in the city’s underground, giving her great knowledge of what’s going on in the city. Homare Nishitani III is the third patriarch of the Kijin Clan, a subsidiary of the Omi Alliance. He has quickly risen up the ranks of the clan and become its head in order to take the name, and is more than happy to risk his life. Finally, Kihei Hanawa is the leader of the Daidoji Faction. He serves as Kiryu’s only point of contact with the outside world, and is completely professional in his interactions with Kiryu.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will release on November 9, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will see players exploring the locations of Sotenbori and Yokohama, and feature its traditional brawler combat with two different fighting styles: Yakuza and Agent.
