Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

We enter another year stacked full of exciting upcoming releases. The RPGamer staff picked out some of the highlights they are looking forward to in 2024.

New Year, new games to play! The RPGamer staff have put their resolutions out into the ether. Let’s wish them success in their 2024 goals.

Pathea Games returns to its rebuilding post-apocalyptic world with My Time at Sandrock. Alex Fuller reports that the game certainly doesn’t skimp on the content, making for another pleasing entry in the life sim genre.

My Next Life as a Villainess has finally gotten the otome game treatment. Sam Wachter sees whether this high seas adventure worth the price of admission.

It’s time to wrap up the last chunk of games Sam played for Backloggin’ the Year. Check out if she completed her personal challenges and which games for the Fall months were her favourites.


Major News

Square Enix opened the Tokyo Final Fantasy XIV FanFest with a new keynote presentation for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. Major reveals include the Pictomancer Job, a new player race option, new content, and more.

Bandai Namco revealed an April release date for Sand Land. The action RPG is available to pre-order now, including in a physical Collector’s Edition.

Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age are coming to Nintendo Switch Online. Both games will be available to Expansion Pass subscribers next week.

Almost Human is bringing its popular dungeon-crawler to Nintendo Switch. Legend of Grimrock will be available on the console next week.

2P Games and YiFang Studios announced Immortal Life will be exiting Steam Early Access next week. The life sim RPG sees players controlling a member of a Taoist sect devoted to cultivation.

The demo for Granblue Fantasy: Relink arrives on PS4 and PS5 very soon. In addition, Cygames held another in-depth presentation for the game ahead of its full release in a few weeks.

We kick off a new season of RPG Backtrack by revisiting the game from the first episode that debuted early sixteen years ago. That’s right, we are old, and this is a celebration of Super Mario RPG, with guests Mike Apps and Ryan Costa.

Q&A Quest straddles the line between this year and last. In the three episodes the hosts cover Christmas plans, 2023 best and worst RPGs, and kick off 2024 with an episode chock-full of Dragon Quest talk and major RPGs coming out early this year.

In a triple dose of RPG Cast, Chris and Kelley hold down the fort while a triple set of guests pop in. Phil tries to recruit everyone into his multilevel Monster Hunter scheme. Matt’s Dragon Quest slime car draws near. Command? Robert wants to be Tuxedo Mask, but with food and goggles.
