Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s newest column, where we take a quick look back at some of the articles we’ve posted throughout the week. This article is designed to help give reminders for some interesting editorial content and stories that our less regular visitors might have missed. We very much appreciate any feedback or comments on its usefulness.
Editorial Content
The RPG Elements column returns for its first appearance on RPGamer’s new website. Pascal Tekaia takes a look at the new Dragon Quest Illustrations: 30th Anniversary Edition art book.
Pascal Tekaia also has a new review for Thing Trunk’s Book of Demons. The game is an action RPG and the first title in a planned seven-part series looking to emulate various classics from video game history.
Yo-kai Watch 3 was released in Europe in December. Alex Fuller used to opportunity to get in an early look at the game ahead of its North American release in early February.
Phil Willis returns with another edition of the RPG Backtrack Sidequest. He reports on his time spent with Curse of the Azure Bonds, Wasteland 2, and Valkyria Chronicles.
Major News
Square Enix finally showed off Dragon Quest XI‘s Switch version. The game is coming to Japan in 2019, with a trailer showing off its new Japanese voice acting.
Atlus has teased P5R, an upcoming project related to 2017’s Persona 5. Very little is known about what the project actually is at this stage, but more information is promised in March.
Following the recent announcement of Ys IX, Nihon Falcom has proved a few more details on the game. Amongst other things, President and CEO Toshihiro Kondo revealed when it takes place within the series’ timeline.
Level-5 was present at this year’s Jump Festa in Japan, where it showed a new trailer for its newest cross-media franchise. The company also provided some details on a further delay to Inazuma Eleven Ares.
ATOM RPG is a post-apocalyptic RPG set in the Soviet wasteland of an alternate version of 1986. The full game is available now after spending over a year in Early Access.
NIS America announced that the console version of RPG Maker MV has been pushed back. Previously scheduled for late-February, the game has reverted to a 2019 release period.

In the latest episode, the RPG Backtrack crew roles back the decades for one of the first sandbox RPGs. Starflight was originally released for PC in 1986 before later coming to Sega Genesis.
RPGamer’s Monster Hunter-focused podcast returns discussing a big 2018 for the series. There’s also some more strategic discussions for both World and Ultimate Generations.
The RPG Cast crew returns from its break to discuss what they’ve been playing over the holidays. Unsurprisingly, quite a few members elected to play some Smash.
