Level-5 Releases New Megaton Musashi Trailer, Details Inazuma Eleven Ares Delay

Level-5 was present at this year’s Jump Festa event in Chiba, Japan, where it revealed more details and a new trailer for its newest cross-media franchise, Megaton Musashi. Originally announced in 2016, Megaton Musashi is the company’s fifth cross-media franchise and will include an RPG, the platforms and release date of which have not been revealed, as well as an anime series and toy line.

Megaton Musashi takes place in the year 2118, after an invading force called the Dractor takes over Earth, mining it out into a doughnut shape. Most of the planet’s population has been wiped out but there is a special shelter where surviving humans live out near-normal lives while planning for a counterattack. The key to the counterattack is the Musashi, a 60m-high mech that is formed by three smaller robots. The main characters are Yamato Ichidaiji, Ryuugo Hijikata, and Teru Asami, the three pilots of the indvidiual Musashi Units.

Level-5’s CEO Akihiro Hino also provided an update on Inazuma Eleven Ares, its newest entry in the soccer RPG series. Previously delayed to this winter, the game is now expected for release sometime after May 2019 in Japan. Inazuma Eleven Ares was initially planned for release alongside the 2018 World Cup in July, with Level-5 deciding to enlist the help of a third-pary developer. However, this partnership did not work as planned due to a lack of resources from the third-party. Level-5 is now working with a different developer on the game, which is still being developed for PlayStation 4, Switch, iOS, and Android, with the exact schedule still to be finalised. The full 15-minute message from Akihiro Hino can be viewed below, which is only in Japanese but includes some new artwork and images from the game.
