Dragon Quest XI S Set for 2019 Japanese Release

At this weekend’s Jump Festa 2019 event in Chiba, Japan, Square Enix revealed that Dragon Quest XI S, the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, will be coming to Japan in 2019. The announcement came with a new trailer showcasing the Japanese voice acting, which is a new addition for the Switch version, with voice acting previously only being available in the western PlayStation 4 release.

Desginer Yuji Horii also revealed an addition to the Switch version. The addition expands on the marriage sidequest, which now lets players choose from a group of potential partners, though same-sex partnerships are not given marriage status.

Dragon Quest XI was originally released for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2017, and for PlayStation 4 and PC in North America and Europe in 2018. Those looking to read more about the game can check out Pascal Tekaia’s review.
