RPGamer Round-Up: March 30 – April 6

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the intervening period. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Atelier Yumia steps into Gust’s new open world as a parkour potion princess. Matt Masem finds that, much fitting her title as the Alchemist of Memories, time spent with the game is indeed memorable.

Does Sword & Axe’s Dark Deity 2 looks to build upon the success of the first game. Ryan Costa sees if the tactical RPG suffers from playing it too safe or has enough polish to satisfy.

Tsukumogami Software’s Dice ‘n Goblins blends first-person dungeon-crawling with tabletop-style dice rolling combat. Alex Fuller reports that it offers an enjoyable and charming experience, though at least initially comes with a late-game balancing caveat.

Owlcat Games and Another Angle Games recently released an open alpha for cRPG Shadow of the Road. Jahwon Corbett got an early look at the game’s interesting take on an alternate history Japan.

It’s a new year of backlog busting, and this Sam Wachter has some big goals. January to March offered an interesting variety of completed titles, but were they good? Let’s find out.

 


Switch 2 Reveal*

Nintendo held its dedicated Switch 2 Direct presentation. In addition to revealing the console’s features and numerous games coming to it, the company revealed a June launch date.

Square Enix announced a HD remaster for 3DS title Bravely Default, which will be available as one of Switch 2’s June launch titles. Nintendo also held new Treehouse Live presentations demonstrating some games including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, as well as Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster.

FromSoftware’s newest title will be coming exclusively to Switch 2 next year. The Duskbloods is billed as an online PvPvE multiplayer title for up to eight players, with an interview with director Hidetaka Miyazaki later providing some additional details about the game and its creation.

Nintendo and Koei Tecmo revealed a new Hyrule Warriors title. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will tell the story from far in the past that eventually leads to the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tobyfox revealed that Deltarune’s full four-chapter release is set for June. In addition to being a Switch 2 launch title, it will also be available on various other platforms.

 


Other News

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical developer Summerfall Studios announced Malys. The roguelite deckbuilder is planned to launch on PC later this year and will undergo a Kickstarter campaign soon.

CyberConnect2 revealed that Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 will be getting a Fast Mode for those wanting to focus on the story. The mode will also be added to the previous two games.

A few years after its Kickstarter campaign, Oddventure is now available on Steam Early Access. Billed as a turn-based twisted fairytale RPG, the game is expected to get a full release in a few months.

AMATA Games and Curry Croquette announced dungeon crawler RPG Crescent Tower. The title takes inspiration from 8-bit RPGs and sees player-created adventurers exploring a mysterious tower.

7QUARK and Game Source Entertainment revealed that Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade will launch a few weeks later than planned. The delay is stated to be due to unexpected demand for the game’s limited edition.

Four years after its release on Apple Arcade, Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is coming to new platforms. The game will be released on Steam and mobile app stores in the coming few months.
