Nintendo Treehouse Demos The Legend of Zelda, Bravely Default on Switch 2
Following its Nintendo Switch 2 Direct earlier this week, Nintendo held two days of Nintendo Treehouse Live livestreams demonstrating a selection of games launching for the console. Of particular interest to RPGamers were sections on the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, as well as Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will launch alongside the console on June 5, 2025. They include smoother frame rates, faster load times, and better graphics. They also add compatibility with the new Zelda Notes coming to the Nintendo Switch App for mobile devices that gives players navigation assistance, item and schematic sharing features, gameplay stats, and more. Those who already own either game will be able to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack.
A remaster of Nintendo 3DS title Bravely Default, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster will also be a console launch title and release on June 5, 2025. The game is set in the world of Luxendarc, where balance is kept by four elemental crystals. After a Great Chasm causes darkness to appear, four warriors end up teaming together on a journey to restore light to the crystals. It features a turn-based system where players can make use of Brave and Default options to use or store up multiple actions. The game received a sequel, Bravely Second: End Layer, as well as a successor in Bravely Default II, which features a new setting, story, and cast.
