Hidetaka Miyazaki Discusses The Duskbloods

Nintendo posted a new Creator’s Voice interview with FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki discussing the developer’s recently announced The Duskbloods. The interview provides some insights into creation and development of the game, as well as providing some extra details about its setting and gameplay, which will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

The Duskbloods is billed as a PvPvE online multiplayer title for up to eight players that puts players in the role of the Bloodsworn, who have transcended normal human strength thanks to their special blood. They dive into the fight for “First Blood” at events known as the “Twilight of Humanity”. The Bloodsworn draw from the general concept of vampires, with a focus on the more romantic aspects of the legend, and are summoned to the Twilight of Humanity across a variety of different times. This means The Duskbloods has no set era or location, with images so far showing maps covering Gothic or Victorian eras as well as those of the early modern period.

Players will have over a dozen characters to choose from, with their own identity and appearance, as well as customisation options. The game makes use of a hub area where players select and customise their characters before entering the online multiplayer. After each match, players return to the hub with their rewards. Matches are often “last player standing”, but the game makes use of Victory Points and includes other objectives, such as teaming up to fight a powerful boss. There are also various special events that can impact a match and its objectives during it, as well as special roles that players can obtain that give them additional responsibilities and objectives.
