RPGamer Round-Up: June 2 – June 9

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

A crab’s shell is his castle, but poor Kril’s has been rudely snatched away from him. Pascal Tekaia discovers how he must dodge, parry, and fight his way through an ocean of trouble in this unique Soulslike.

Tails of Iron is coming back this year with a sequel featuring a new hero and new enemies. Pascal Tekaia reports that returning champions will be excited to see the same nail-biting gameplay, made even more intense.

Sam Enright’s Beyond Galaxyland is a 2.5D turn-based RPG with interesting platforming elements and a story that can be intriguing. With a lot on its plate, Ryan Costa checked in to see how the game is shaping up.

Third time’s still the charm as Demonschool continues to shape up to be an impressive-looking title. RPGamer’s Ryan Costa was able to go hands-on with its latest demo build.

Atlus held its second special showcase for Metaphor: ReFantazio. The twenty-minute video focuses on the game’s job system, known as Archetypes.

After some silence, Dotemu and Leikir Studio have provided a new release window for Metal Slug Tactics. The tactical RPG take on the run-and-gun series is also coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

iam8bit and Nano Park Studios are partnering on slice-of-life RPG Petal Runner. The game features graphics that hearken back to Game Boy Color era titles as players explore the cyberpunk open world city of Sapphire Valley.



Atlus announced a release date for Persona 3 Reload’s Episode Aigis expansion. Players will be able to play through the remake’s version of the “Answer” in September.

EA and BioWare revealed that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is now titled Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The latest entry in the fantasy series’s first gameplay reveal is set for next week.

Amazon Games’s New World is getting a revamp with New World: Aeternum. Its October release will bring it to consoles, and appears to put more of a solo focus on the game.

Nexon revealed that The First Descendant is launching in just under a month’s time. The free-to-play co-op looter shooter will be available on PC and consoles.

Top Hat Studios received its own section during the Guerrilla Collective 2024 showcase. The publisher showed off multiple RPGs with Ova Magica, Under the Island, and Sonzai.

Galdra Studios has begun a Kickstarter campaign for its sequel to role-playing visual novel Arcadia Fallen. Arcadia Fallen II puts players in the role of a senior student at a magic academy.
