Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous period. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Ubisoft’s second entry in the Mario + Rabbids universe improves upon the formula while retaining everything from the original that players fell in love with. Andron Smith reports that the fusion of two already long-running franchises has the potential to keep going strong.

From giant vegetables to farming in the sky, there’s always fun to be had when Doraemon is around. Doraemon Story of Seasons is back, and Sam Wachter successfully makes new friends in the Great Kingdom.

Sidebar Games went ambitious with its follow-up to Golf Story. Unfortunately, Alex Fuller finds that ambition ultimately sees Sports Story overshooting the green and lying somewhere in the rough.

The Last Oricru is a well-written choice-based action RPG blending sci-fi and medieval fantasy. However, Pascal Tekaia discovers that unpolished combat and glaring technical issues make this one experiment worth avoiding.

It’s time to wrap up the last chunk of games Sam played for Backloggin’ the Year. Check out if she completed her personal challenges and which games for the fall months were her favourites.


Major News

Type-Moon and Koei Tecmo are working together on a new entry in the Fate multimedia franchise. Fate/Samurai Remnant is an action RPG coming to PC and consoles later this year.

Developer Edmund McMillen provided an update on Mewgenics. Since being announced, cancelled, and subsequently revived, the game has morphed into a tactical roguelike RPG, and is now planned to launch in 2024.

Developer Rideon has announced a new title in its Mercenaries tactical RPG series. Mercenaries Lament will launch on Switch in Japan next month, with a PS4 version to follow.

Critical Games’s 8-Bit Adventures 2 is launching at the end of the month. The retro-styled turn-based RPG will hit PC first, with console versions to follow later.

NIS America revealed launch dates for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox’s PS5 version. The action RPG will get a dedicated release on the console in May.

Developer Colopl has announced monster-breeding action RPG. The game will launch in Japan as Monster Universe later this month, with a later English update to bring the game to international markets as Volzerk: Monsters and Lands Unknown.

Bushiroad unveiled its new games publishing label with the reveal of multiple new titles. The announcements include two RPGs: Rear Sekai and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – Quest of Memories.
