RPGamer Round-Up: May 12 – May 19

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Back in 2020, we released our first Where to Start? guide, covering Gust’s Atelier series. With four new entries released since then, we have elected to offer readers an updated refresh.

The Atelier series has been around so long many JRPG fans have likely heard about it at least once. Mohamed Lamine Coulibaly explores what the series has to offer, that those who have merely given it a cursory glance.

Developer Studio Camelia unveiled its debut project, ALZARA: Radiant Echoes. The turn-based RPG is inspired by a number of classic JRPGs and is undergoing a Kickstarter campaign now.

With Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance on the horizon, Atlus is planning to delist the original release. Those who have purchased the game will be able to redownload and play it.

Developer Airship Syndicate announced its plan to change both the name and business model of its online action RPG Wayfinder. The title will be renamed Wayfinder Echoes once the upcoming update goes live.

Iceberg Interactive and Grey Wolf Entertainment have announced Second Sun. The game, combining old-school first-person shooter gameplay with RPG elements, will be making its way to PC.

Publisher Aksys Games announced the release date for the Nintendo Switch version of Nihon Falcom’s Tokyo Xanadu eX+ in North America and Europe. The action RPG will launch on the console in July.

The latest Letter from the Producer for Final Fantasy XIV focuses on the Job changes for Dawntrail. Players can get a preview for the new Viper and Pictomancer Jobs, as well as learn about changes coming to existing favourites.

Solo developer Uncultured Games is releasing Whispers in the Moss at the end of this month. The RPG features turn-based combat and textmode-based graphics.
