RPGamer Round-Up: March 5 – March 12

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Despite its very positive reception, the first Octopath Traveler had some specific criticisms. Playing to its strengths, while working to fix perceived weaknesses, Matt Masem finds that Octopath Traveler II delivers a masterpiece of a turn-based RPG.

After having sliced its way through Japan and Final Fantasy, Team Ninja heads to China with its newest action RPG. Zack Webster reports whether the change in setting bring about other changes or feels more like simply a new coat of paint.

The Like a Dragon series is heading deep into the past, hoping to restore Japan to its former glory. Sam Wachter sees if Kazuma — I mean, Ryoma Sakamoto — can find a girlfriend, stop a cult, pet cats, and help the Shinsengumi restore Japan?

Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is a horror mystery adventure from Square Enix available on PC, Switch, and mobile. Alex Fuller discovers it provides an interesting supernatural mystery with plenty of twists and turns.


Major News

Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes revealed The Lamplighters League. The game is a 1930s pulp adventure with turn-based combat and real-time battlefield infiltration coming later this year.

Bethesda breaks its Starfield silence to bring a firmer release date. There’s also a Starfield Direct coming up to look forward to.

A brand new entry in the Pen and Paper series is out now. Knights of Pen and Paper 3 sees players embark on another fantasy adventure, led by their game master.

Forever Entertainment revealed a release date for its second remake in the Front Mission series. RPGamers can once again board their wanzers in June.

Level-5’s Vision 2023 Tsuzumi event provided plenty of updates on the developer’s upcoming titles. Internationally-releasing RPGs receiving new media or info were Decapolice, Megaton Mushashi: Wired, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, and Fantasy Life i.

Nihon Falcom provided more details on its latest Ys title. The update provides details on this game’s version of Adol, heroine Carja, and its two-mode battle system.

Riot Forge announced that Digital Sun’s The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is launching next month. The company also revealed the action RPG’s first gameplay media and a Collector’s Edition.
