New Release Round-Up (November 10, 2022)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Kowloon High-School Chronicle

Kowloon High-School Chronicle is a remaster of the PlayStation 2 title Kowloon Youma Gakuen Ki and sees players controlling a transfer student at Kamiyoshi Academy in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Though acting as a normal student, he is a treasure hunter on a mission to uncover a ruin beneath the school. The game features first-person dungeon exploration as well as a distinctive conversation system. Rogue Legacy 2

Like its predecessor, action roguelite Rogue Legacy 2 sees players controlling generations of adventurers in a randomly-generated world. Each time the player character dies, the world is regenerated — though bosses remain defeated — and a new hero is selected from a list of options, each with their own class and quirks that can help or hinder. Players are able to upgrade their home manor, ensuring the subsequent generations get stronger. The release of the Switch version comes alongside the launch of its major Fabled Heroes update. Fabled Heroes adds five new subclasses including the Lich King and Spymaster, as well as new Runes, Relics, and Spells.


Tactics Ogre: Reborn

Platform: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is based on the PlayStation Portable remake of the original Super Famicom Tactics Ogre title. The Reborn version of the game features high-definition graphics, gameplay adjustments, fully voiced cutscenes in English and Japanese, and a full orchestral re-recording of the game’s soundtrack. The game is set in the island kingdom of Valeria and follows Denam Pavel as the country devolves into civil war. This Way Madness Lies

Turn-based RPG This Way Madness Lies follows the Stratford-Upon-Avon High Drama Society. Its members attend school and put on plays for the community while also working as magical girls. The group — Imogen, Paulina, Viola, Rosalind, Miranda, Beatrice, and Kate — teleport to alternate worlds based on Shakespeare’s plays to save them from the forces of Nightmare. Valkyrie Elysium

A new title in the Valkyrie series that began with Valkyrie Profile, Valkyrie Elysium is an action RPG following a young Valkyrie entrusted with the fate of the world. She is tasked by the All-Father, ruler of the gods, with stopping Ragnarok and the destruction of the world. Along with the PC release, its console versions are receiving a free update adding a new mode called “Hilde’s Vengeance”, which features Hilde as a playable character.
