New Release Round-Up (September 23, 2021)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases.


Alder’s Blood

Turn-based tactical RPG Alder’s Blood features a Victorian/Western fantasy setting, with players leading a crew of hunters on a quest to kill a corrupted god. The quest is made even more dangerous by the presence of monsters and darkness, which can summon additional monsters. The game features a unique ambush system to let players get the drop on monsters that they’d otherwise be no match for. Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend

Platform: iOS, Android (previously released on Nintendo Switch)

Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend contains the first three games of the SaGa series, which were all released for the Nintendo Game Boy in English under the titles Final Fantasy Legend, Final Fantasy Legend II, and Final Fantasy Legend III. Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend includes character speed boost and adjustable screen magnification options, as well as a retro display mode, commemorative music and illustrations, eight in-game wallpapers, and English and Japanese text. The mobile versions will also include single-handed play controls, while the Steam release will feature a 4K-compatible mode. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an action RPG retelling of Dragon Ball Z, the popular manga and anime series centered on Kakarot, more commonly known as Goku. Get in the Car, Loser!

Get in the Car, Loser! sees the Machine Devil cultists spreading terror in order to summon the Machine Devil, who was previously sealed away by the legendary hero Agi of Roses. Against the wishes of the ruling Divine Order, three attendees of the local academy and a renegade angel embark on a road trip to defeat the cultists. The game features an action-time combat system, equipment-based character progression, and visual novel-inspired dialogue system.


Guild of Ascension

Roguelite tactical action RPG Guild of Ascension follows two heroes climbing a tower, the last known place to be inhabited by a goddess. The game features grid-based battlefields with players given a few seconds to act freely on their turn. Between trips up the tower players are able to craft new equipment using resources collected to help them for future runs.


Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Adventure RPG Kena: Bridge of Spirits is set in a fantasy world with players controlling Kena, a young Spirit Guide looking into the demise of her village. She is joined by a team of spirit companions called the Rot, who are able to manipulate the environment.


Lost Judgment

Platform: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S

Price: $59.99

Lost Judgment is a sequel to Yakuza series spin-off Judgment and will take players to the series regular location of Tokyo’s Kamurocho district, as well as Yokohama’s Ijunicho district that was the primary setting for Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The game sees private detective Takayuki Yagami becoming involved in a mystery following revelations made at the end of a court case handled by his former colleagues.
