With Kiryu’s saga finally coming to an end, it’s time for a new dragon to rise up. Ichiban Kasuga readily takes up the opportunity to undergo his quest.
A new protagonist appears! Move over Kazuma Kiryu because Kasuga Ichiban has stolen the spotlight! Yakuza: Like a Dragon has a new kid in town, but is he ready to take on the reins of becoming the next dragon?
With a new character and a new battle system, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was a fresh start for many longtime fans of the series. On this week’s backtrack, Josh, Robert, and David bring their opinions on this soft-reboot.
Chris wonders if Pokémon is the future where the vegans win? Kelley just notices Josh’s discord avatar is Joshua. Josh asks, “What is a mana game, but a miserable pile of menus?”
Kelley is a complicated person when it comes to PC gaming. Josh is a quiet English man, slightly constipated. And Chris takes a Steam Deck to the face.
Kelley is creeped out by grown men in diapers. Josh can’t name a kaiju that isn’t Godzilla or Mothra. And Chris gets an Elden Pacifier since he’s never happy.
Kelley carries her Vita with her, but then realizes she can’t play the games in public. Josh practices his dramatic Yakuza shirt ripping skills. And Chris uses an AI to generate a new Soul Hackers map.
Sam joins us this week for some Netflix and Krill. Anna Marie has to deal with a crisis on infinite Chris. Kelley asks the question, “Bidoff: photogenic or photobombing?” And Matt has to whistle Yuji Horii down from his crazy DQ teasing.
Anna Marie wonders why we can’t be friends. Jonathan becomes a Marbula One fan. Kelley engages “pants off, games on” mode. And Chris learns that the only person he’s cheating is himself…and his dire gryphon.
The Yakuza games have allowed players to beat up thugs and explore the streets of Japan for over 15 years. With a dozen different localized releases to choose from, RPGamer takes a crack at helping players figure out where to get into this unique series.
It’s another explicit week, as Sam calls Chris poopy. Anna Marie can’t understand Dutch (even though she likes to think she does), while Pascal imagines he’s eating a sausage. Josh is slowly falling under the spell of Mass Effect Stockholm Syndrome, and somehow Chris is equally obsessed with shoes, jeggings, and dead Google products. Save us.
It’s just the core trio this week, as Chris tosses a coin to his hunting horn partner Kelley, and Anna Marie rolls her eyes as Chris cracks terrible jokes about what the Vita really means. We all consider MiHoYo’s bottom line, as well as whether we’re classified as normies.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon makes the leap to PlayStation 5 after originally releasing in 2020. A new trailer and some downloadable goodies for all platforms mark the occasion.
From beefcakes to thirsty NPCs, we cover the gamut of the most important awards of the year. Wheels finally gets his due. And everyone comes to terms with their feelings about visual novels.
This week in Q&A Quest we talk more about Dragon Quest VII and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. We also answer some Dragon Quest series questions with the help of Matt Masem.
In a tough year for many, video games helped provide plenty of much-needed solace, enjoyment, and heart. After taking our usual few weeks to fully digest the past year’s releases, RPGamer is proud to present our Best of 2020 awards.
This week in Q&A Quest we dig further into the massive backlog of questions. We also discuss Yakuza Like a Dragon.
Chris does an Xbox 180 while Josh steals Anna Marie’s needle. Robert gets the snotty kleenex award because he can’t figure out how to stream Suikoden. And Kelley is too busy fawning over Revali to notice.
Anna Marie spends the whole show looking for her holes. Jonathan Stringer is off singing Sakuna Matata. Josh Carpenter has all the sinks. Kelley Ryan cleans her entire house with a broom. And Chris has issues with Wil Wheaton.
This week in Q&A Quest we discuss our favorite games of the year. We also discuss our favorite games that we first played this year.
This week we discuss the bacon that broke Anna’s back, Kelley shows us the power of the nip-nado, Pascal meets the Bok Choys, Josh is sponsored by revengecrabs.com, and Robert speedruns the produce department.
Kelley mounts her fox onto a fox to go for a walk with her foxes. Robert breaks his keyboard. Anna Marie drinks the Kool-Aid. Chris is singing about Death Tales, awooo-oo. And Josh vapes with his Xbox. Regardless, they all agree that you should not play Operation Darkness.
