Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Astor: Blade of the Monolith

Action RPG Astor: Blade of the Monolith is set in the world of Gliese. Gliese is home of the Diokek, sentient creations of an ancient race that since disappeared. The Diokek’s peaceful existence is upended by the appearance of malevolent creatures called the Hiltsik. The game follows Astor, a young Diokek warrior, who sets out to uncover the sinister forces at play and discover the secret to the ancients’ disappearance. Superhero tactical RPG Capes is the debut title from Spitfire Interactive, a studio set up by key members of Hand of Fate series developer Defiant Development. It is set after supervillains emerged victorious and turned the city into a dystopia where developing superpowers is considered a crime. However, a new generation of heroes is ready to try and fight back. Players recruit and train heroes while taking on missions across the city, as well as learning the histories behind the various heroes and villains in the game.


Infinite Mana

2.5D fantasy RPG Infinite Mana is set on the world of Arukea and aims to pay tribute to classic 8-bit and 16-bit RPGs through its graphics and gameplay. The game also implements its own glitches, which players can look to use to their advantage as they explore a variety of biomes including high-tech ruins, deserts, jungles, suboceanic labs, and more.


SKALD: Against the Black Priory

Retro-style RPG SKALD: Against the Black Priory is inspired by grimdark fantasy and Lovecraftian horror. Players create their main character and recruit a party of adventurers from among a dozen classes, exploring the expanse of Freymark and the Outer Isles. The game features turn-based combat on gridded battlefields and includes customisable difficulty and feedback settings as well as an auto-resolve option for combat.


TEVI

TEVI is a combination of Metroidvania and bullet hell. Players take control of the titular character as she uses her dagger and wrench to perform melee attacks, as well as being able to use ranged offensive and support magic with the help of her floating companions Celia and Sable. Boss fights require a variety of strategies as each phase of the battle results in a change of attack and bullet patterns.


The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War is based on the anime series of the same name that first aired in 2023. It takes place in the Septian year 1205, following the events of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II, and is set in the northwestern state of North Ambria, a poor region on the border of the Erebonian Empire. The story follows Lavian Winslet, who volunteers to join the renowned Northern Jaegers to help protect her hometown and prove herself different to her grandfather Vlad. She ends up in a platoon that is ordered to take on a risky undercover mission in the Erebonian Empire.


Vendir: Plague of Lies

Vendir: Plague of Lies is a cRPG set in the eponymous, despairing world of Vendir. The game features turn-based combat with various exploration and loot systems, as well as deep character customisation and a choice-driven narrative.


Xuan Yuan Sword 7

Platform: Nintendo Switch (previously released on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

Price: $39.99

Xuan Yuan Sword 7 is the latest entry in the long-running Taiwanese action RPG series and is set in a version of China about 2000 years ago, towards the end of the Western Han dynasty. Players control Taishi Zhao, a swordsman who sets out on a journey to protect his family. The game originally released on PC in 2020, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions released in 2021.
