New Release Round-Up (December 21, 2023)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Cygnus Enterprises

Cygnus Enterprises is a blend of sci-fi action RPG and city management where players create and protect settlements on alien worlds. The game features top-down shooter combat as players venture into the wilds to obtain resources needed to build their settlements. When resources are gathered, players can build up their outpost, placing new buildings as they see fit and managing employees, including technical and security staff, to ensure things run smoothly. The game had been in Early Access for around a year.


Loot River

Platform: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 (previously released on PC, Xbox One)

Action roguelike Loot River draws inspiration from Dark Souls and Tetris. It sees players working through a series of procedurally-generated dungeons as they visit floating ruins. Players use the Relic to move the ruins together through sliding puzzles. The PlayStation console release comes with a new level editor, which allows players to create and share their own levels across platforms. Snowman Story

Narrative adventure RPG Snowman Story follows a snowman called Chris on his journey to the far north, where he hopes to find a fabled paradise where his kind aren’t doomed to melt each spring. During the journey, he encounters various woodland critters, puzzle stages, and the stories of previous snowmen who have attempted the same journey. The Steam release includes controller support, a landscape mode, additional voice effects, and an improved English translation.
