RPGamer Round-Up: November 17 – November 24

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

RPGamer is proud to present the second part of our feature celebrating our favourite RPG intros. Join us in remembering some of those games that enraptured their players from the outset.

Enotria: mythical land of Italian renaissance, home of beautiful cities and marble palaces filled with challenging foes. Pascal Tekaia reports that Enotria: The Last Song’s superb level design ensures it stands out among the Soulslike subgenre.

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure sees the return of series protagonist Max Caulfield. Sam Wachter sees if her return to the franchise is a triumphant one.

Fire & Frost Studios unveiled its debut title Of Ash and Steel. RPGamer was able to learn a bit about the third-person action RPG ahead of its planned launch next year.


Major News

Square Enix and LightSpeed Studios announced a dedicated mobile version for MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. The game will be getting play tests in China with a global launch to follow.

Publisher Secret Mode and developer Silent Games revealed the studio’s debut title Empyreal. The action RPG sees players joining an expedition to investigate a monolith in a far corner of the galaxy.

Knights Peak and Primal Game Studio revealed an April release date for 2D action RPG Mandragora. The game will be coming to PC and consoles, with two PC previews planned for the coming months.

 

 

Ground Game Atelier’s The Time I Have Left put in an appearance during The MIX Fall Showcase this week. The developer has begun a Kickstarter campaign for time-driven escape adventure RPG, with a demo available to try out.

Quorum Games revealed its debut title, Call of Elyndra. The game aims to combine SNES-era action RPGs and cozy farming sims, with a demo to be released soon.

Bushiroad Games and Hakama announced Progress Orders. The newest title from the Rune Factory 5 developer is billed as a guild management fantasy RPG.

Koei Tecmo and Gust released new media and info for Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. The companies introduced the game’s synthesis, combat, and base-building systems.

Spike Chunsoft announced a PC release for Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. The roguelike dungeon-crawler will be available on Steam this winter.

NIS America revealed more details for Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero. In addition to revealing various DLC characters, the company provided details about the facilities available at the Skullrock Island base.
