Chernobylite Gets Second Season in the Red Trees

All in! Games and The Farm 51 have released the second season update for Chernobylite. The free update, titled Red Trees, includes a new gameplay mode, six new story missions, and an additional base decoration.

The largest update is the inclusion of an in-game VR headset. Available at the base, the headset gives protagonist Igor access to a virtual roguelite mode, where he will attempt to work his way through randomized levels with randomized drops. Companions also have a chance to appear in the mode. At the end of the session, any experience gained and any relationships improved will carry over into the main game.

In addition, six new story missions have been added to flesh out more of the game’s plot and players will now be able to add a video game console to the base that boosts morale. A paid add-on for the game, priced at $3.99/€3.29/£2.89, has also been released that adds further customization options to the base.

Chernobylite is a survival RPG that takes place in a 3D-scanned rendition of the the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The game finds Igor returning to the Zone in order to discover the whereabouts of his wife, who disappeared thirty years earlier. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. For more information on the game, RPGamer’s review can be read here.
