Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Getting Switch 2 Version

Square Enix announced that it will be releasing a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will release on September 24, 2026. The game’s Japanese website states that save transfer will not be possible between the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions.

Dragon Quest XI was originally released for PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe in 2018, winning RPGamer’s 2018 Game of the Year Award, with the enhanced S version released on Nintendo Switch in 2020 and PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2021. Additional content in the S version of Dragon Quest XI includes new story scenarios exploring each of the main cast members’ backstories, the option to switch between HD graphics and 16-bit sprite mode with new quests, English and original Japanese voice-overs, fully orchestrated field and battle music, and an increased battle speed option.
