Anthem Shutting Down in January

EA and BioWare announced that online action RPG Anthem will shut down on January 12, 2026. Both the game and its premium in-game currency are no longer available to purchase, though those who have previously purchased in-game currency will be able to use it until the servers are shut down. The game will also be removed from the EA Play service on August 15, 2025.

Anthem released worldwide for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in February 2019. The game is set on a planet filled with advanced technological relics that use an energy source called the Anthem of Creation. These relics cause massive instability, changing weather patterns, opening portals, and unleashing monstrous creatures into the world. Players control mercenaries that take part in missions requiring them to venture outside of humanity’s fortified cities in exosuits called Javelins. A long-term redesign was announced in 2020, but was cancelled alongside all other development in 2021.
