New Release Round-Up (October 24, 2024)

Welcome to RPGmer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released in the last week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Botworld Odyssey

Creature-collecting RPG Botworld Odyssey takes place in Botworld, which is inhabited by anthropomorphic animal characters as well as bots that act as fauna whose power can be used in battle by Botmasters. Players take on the role of a Botmaster who sets out to become the best of their peers while uncovering the secrets of Botworld. The game features a real-time combat system, where bots act on their own while the player assists them with skills such as Frost Missile and Firewall.


Card-en-Ciel

Roguelite deckbuilding RPG Card-en-Ciel follows Neon, a gaming detective, as characters from other universes unexpectedly show up in a different work-in-progress. Gameplay sees players clearing out rooms in dungeons by collecting and battling with deck built up from over 300 character cards, attempting to get the boss at the end. Each room cleared grants a choice of reward, with players also earning scores and rewards when they complete the dungeon. Fae Farm

Farming sim Fae Farm takes players to the enchanted island of Azoria. Players build and expand their homestead, explore the island, and gather resources as they seek to restore harmony. The game’s “Cozy System” gives players daily buffs for having specialised furniture and decor. Fate Seeker II

Action RPG Fate Seeker II was originally released in Chinese on Steam in 2021, with its predecessor released in 2018. The game is set during Ancient China’s Northern Song dynasty. Players control orphaned swordsman Zhuge Yu, who sets out to eradicate governmental corruption. The game features an open-world map and a debate system used for players to solve mysteries, as well as the ability for players to mix different martial art styles in combat. The Xbox version includes a revamped localisation also now available on its PlayStation 5 version, while its Steam release is planned to receive an English localisation at a later date.


Necro Story

Lighthearted creature collection RPG Necro Story puts players in the role of a (kind of) evil necromancer, who is joined by the ghost of a white mage as they venture into the Underworld to save humanity. Players will have access to twenty spells, each with its own upgrade tree, as well as the signature Possess Soul ability, which lets them take control of any defeated enemy and form their own army of minions. Orange Season

Farming sim Orange Season sees players building up a successful farm in the village of Orange Town. Players can grow crops, raise animals, fish, and mine, while building up relationships with local citizens and participating in festivals and mini-games. The game had been on Steam Early Access since 2017.


Potionomics: Masterwork Edition

Potionomics: Masterwork Edition include all of the post-launch updates and improvements from its PC version, plus new voice acting, a new Endless gameplay mode, additional difficulty levels, and more. In addition, the existing PC version will receive a free update simultaneously with the Masterwork Edition’s release. The management sim/deckbuilder stars Sylvia, a witch struggling to save her shop from a debt collector. Fortunately, she has help from other merchants, adventurers, and an overbearing owl. Players will need to get Sylvia to master both potion brewing and salesmanship in order to stock up and earn money, with the game featuring a card-based sales encounter system.


Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

Platform: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a full remake of Super Famicom RPG Romancing SaGa 2. The game is set in the Varennes Empire, which has an ancient legend of seven great heroes who will save the kingdoms within. However, its capital is suddenly attacked by one of the seven heroes. Leading to events that begin a multi-generational war between the empire and the seven heroes. Those looking to read more about Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven can check out Luis Mauricio’s impression from early access to its demo.


The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle

Turn-based wuxia RPG The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle is inspired by 1990s RPGs. Players create a custom kung fu expert, travelling ancient China and making choices as they look to carve a path of destiny. Combat is turn-based and takes place on gridded battlefields. The game is said to feature historically accurate Chinese locations and includes over ten different endings with variable character-driven paths.


Wayfinder Echoes

Initially created as free-to-play online action RPG Wayfinder, Wayfinder Echoes is a reworking of the game into a single purchase single-player and co-op action RPG. The game is set in the world of Evenor, which is being consumed by a force called the Gloom. Players choose from a roster of eponymous Wayfinders — adventurers fighting against the Gloom, each with their own story, play style, and abilities — and take them into dungeon-like Lost Zones that have been consumed by the Gloom. An Xbox Series X|S release is also planned.


Wildermyth

Turn-based tactical RPG Wildermyth features procedurally generated storytelling RPG taking inspirations from Dungeons & Dragons and XCOM. Players lead a band of heroes, with each hero having their own background. Choices through the adventure affect paths and relationships of the characters, which age and eventually die letting the player control the retired or deceased adventurers’ progeny. Yakuza Kiwami

Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the first game in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. The game follows Tojo Clan lieutenant Kazuma Kiryu after he emerges from prison and gets involved in a search for ten billion yen stolen from the group. The release of Yakuza Kiwami accompanies the release of the Like a Dragon: Yakuza live action TV series on Amazon Prime.


Ys X: Nordics

Action RPG Ys X: Nordics takes place between the events of Ys I & II and Ys: Memories of Celceta though tells a fully standalone adventure. It sees Adol visiting the northern sea’s Obelia Bay, where he encounters a seafaring people called the Normans. After allying with pirate Karja Balta, the two work to save the archipelago’s people from apparently immortal creatures called Griegr.  The game’s combat system allows players to take control of Adol and Karja independently or as a duo, while players can explore the seas on their ship, the Sandras, and engage in naval battles.
