Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

With the holiday season in full swing and 2023 nearing a close, the RPGamer staff took some time out of their full backlogs to share their Top 3 Personal favourite RPGs of the year. Let us know your favourites!

The legend of the seven stars is back for the Switch in a remake of the original Super Mario RPG. Luis Mauricio reports back on how well its magic and reworked visuals captivates more fans.

The Last Faith marries elements of Metroidvania gameplay with Soulslike combat into an overall package that certainly looks divine. Pascal Tekaia takes a look to see if it’s the genre’s second coming or just another false idol.

InsertDisc5’s In Stars and Time asks players to take care of their mental health before plunging into this emotional adventure. Sam Wachter reports back on her time replaying the same day over and over again.

The pantheon of ancient Egypt would like to remind the world that they still rule the realms of imagination, and to this end they present a game. Michael Baker asks readers to prepare to brawl like an Egyptian.

Fall time was video time for RPGamer and as winter fully sets in, tune in with the latest batch of video reviews. This time around we have Lies of P, Long Gone Days, World of Horror, Lords of the Fallen, and an Adventure Corner for Slay the Princess.

 


Major News

Square Enix held an English livestream for SaGa Emerald Beyond. The SaGa Glimmerfest 2023 34th Anniversary Livestream revealed the game’s April release date while introducing two of its protagonists.

Nihon Falcom’s Kiseki/Trails series marks its twentieth anniversary next year. Anniversary title The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria promises a dramatic turn for the series.

Atlus and Vanillaware released some new info for Unicorn Overlord. The update introduces some more characters as well as the game’s character bonding systems.

Atlus provided more information for Persona 3 Portable. The latest images and details highlight more new combat uniforms, the Velvet Room, and town facilities.

Nova Hearts is a new title from Othercide developer Lightblub Crew. Billed as a turn-based combat dating adventure, its first chapter will be available for free next month.

Ishtar Games and Ludogram revealed that Laura Bailey is on board to narrate Worlds of Aria. The tabletop-inspired co-op RPG adventure is planned to launch on PC and Switch next year.

Atlus held a new Japanese livestream for Metaphor: ReFantazio. During the stream director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro provided some insights into the game.
