RPGamer Round-Up: July 30 – August 6

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

 


Editorial Content

Sidequests can serve many different functions in RPGs. A new editorial looks at how Final Fantasy XVI and Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s offerings keep the worldbuilding going while the main plot charges on ahead.

It’s been a long road for Ryza and her friends, but all good times must come to their eventual end. Michael Baker states that the capstone to their trilogy is as good a spot to finish up as anyone could hope for.

Fantasy life-sim MMO Palia has begun its closed beta on PC. Alex Fuller was able to check out the game for a few hours ahead of time.

Biryani, dosas, and puttu rockets, oh my! In the latest Adventure Corner, Sam Watcher cooks up a storm with the heartfelt narrative adventure, Venba.

Major News

Grinding Gear Games held its ExileCon event this weekend in Auckland. The developer provide more details on Path of Exile 2 and its release, as well as revealing Path of Exile’s latest expansion.

Ubisoft announced that Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope’s third and final planned DLC will launch at the end of this month. The DLC seems Rayman joining the cast as the Phantom looks to boost his network’s ratings.

Atlus provided more media and details in Japan for Persona 5 Tactica. The new update covers some more story details, as well some combat elements and its planned launch DLC.

Serenity Forge revealed that Moonana’s Virgo Versus the Zodiac is finally hitting consoles. Players can join Virgo on her twisted cosmic quest on Switch as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles in a few weeks.

Spiral Up Games and Befun Studio’s Affogato is releasing in a couple of weeks. The game mixes reverse tower-defence, card battling, and coffee shop management in a city of eternal night.

Tactical RPG Lost Eidolons has a console release date. The game will hit PS5 and Xbox Series X|S later this month.

Koei Tecmo released a new trailer, plus more images and details, for Fate/Samurai Remnant. The update introduces more characters, plus the concept of Rogue Servants.
