Gothic Classic Coming to Switch in September

THQ Nordic announced that Gothic Classic will release on Nintendo Switch on September 28, 2023. The release is a port of the first game in the fantasy action RPG series, though it includes a set of bug fixes. It will be available digitally internationally, though a physical edition will be available in select stores in the Europe, including THQ Nordic’s own store.

Gothic originally released for PC in 2001. The game is set in the kingdom of Myrtana, which is attempting to fight off an Orcish invastion. Anyone found breaking the law is sent to the giant penal colony of Khorinis to mine the much needed ore for the war effort. Players control an inmate sent of Khorinis, surviving and making allies while they plot their escape. A full remake is currently in development.
