Yakuza: Like a Dragon Provides More Info on Life Experience System

Sega has released new information to further expand upon the previously-announced Life Experience system in the upcoming Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Apart from making new jobs available for protagonist Ichiban Kasuga, earning Life Experience will tie into multiple other in-game systems and activities, and open up several new options for players.

Building up Life Experience will grant Kasuga with various resistances to status ailments, with different ailments targeted by different Life Experience attributes. For example, by building up the Intelligence attribute, Kasuga becomes more resistant to the Brainwash status ailment, while increasing the Kindness attribute grants more resistance to Rage. Furthermore, there are certain Kiwami Skills obtainable via jobs that also benefit from Life Experience. A high amount of Kindness will make Kasuga’s “Hero’s Love” healing skill much more potent.

Life Experience will also pay dividends in exploration. Certain locations will become accessible only after the appropriate Life Experience attribute has been increased. For instance, a high level of Stylishness will grant Kasuga entrance to a public toilet that, until then, has been mysteriously guarded. It is also possible to recruit new employees for Kasuga’s company by impressing them with high-level Life Experience attributes, and deeper romantic relationships are possible if required attributes have been increased to a certain level.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is the newest title in the series and is known as Yakuza 7 in Japan. The game stars a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, and features the new area of Isezaki Ijincho in the city of Yokohama. It is set to be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 16, 2020, with a western release coming sometime later in 2020.
