Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists Coming West, More Characters Revealed

Koei Tecmo has announced that it will be releasing Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World in North America and Europe. The spin-off title, which sees Nelke von Lestamm team up with various alchemists from across the series to build up the village of Westwald, will be released this winter for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

In addition, developer Gust revealed more characters that will be appearing in the game. First is Kunos, a new character. He is the current headman of the village, taking over from his father. The other new character revealed is Lotus McGregor. A long-time friend of Nelke, he is given the task of overseeing Nelke’s efforts to grow the village.

The remaining characters are all those who have previously appeared in the series, either as main protagonists or supporting cast members. Rorolina Frixell (Atelier Rorona), Totooria Helmold (Atelier Totori), Firis Mistlud (Atelier Firis), Razeluxe Meitzen (Mana Khemia 2), Enderk Jad (Atelier Marie, Atelier Elie), Sterkenburg Cranach (Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori, Atelier Meruru), and Pepperoncino (Mana Khemia 2) all join the previous list of announced characters.

Unless Koei Tecmo starts to properly localize their games again, i.e. English dub, I will not buy another game from them.

Unless people start buying said games that’s not going to happen, and it appears declining Atelier sales is going to get it removed from even that series.

I’ve been buying their games. I have all of Atelier series on PS3 and PS4, as well as some other RPG they released such as Nights of Azure and Blue Reflections, on release day, even though those were not dubbed, much to my dismay. But the decision to not dub Atelier Lydie and Suelle was the last straw, especially when the rest of the series were dubbed.

I’m torn on this one. The last few have gone downhill such that I didn’t even buy the release earlier this year. However a city building + alchemy game sounds awesome. Hmm, I’ll watch this one closely
