After giving ourselves a week to digest everything, some RPGamer staff members have picked out their favourites from Summer Game Fest and E3’s showcases. We hope you enjoy reading about our picks and invite readers to share theirs.
RPGamer got to look at Dark Deity from Sword & Axe ahead of its stealth release. It’s a welcome and somewhat familiar sight to turn-based tactical fans, with plenty of customization to keep the player coming back for more.
Chashu Entertainment’s Sands of Aura takes players to a world covered in a sea of sand. RPGamer was able to try out a short demo and talk to some of its developers.
Dreamscaper is a roguelite action RPG combining the realms of dreams with an intimate modern-day setting. RPGamer was able to check out how developer Afterburner Studios has been improving the game since its initial Early Access launch last year.
Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs and Warsaw developer Pixelated Milk’s latest project is titled SacriFire. The game is inspired by 1990s JRPGs and is currently undergoing a Kickstarter campaign.
Wartales is an open-world strategy RPG where players lead a group of mercenaries. The game will be coming to Steam Early Access later this year.
A new sports RPG is coming. Players will be able to help Otto become an ultimate champion in Dodgeball Academia on PC and consoles later this year.
Bethesda Softworks announced that Fallout 76’s free Steel Reign update is launching next month. In addition, the developer revealed players will be heading to The Pitt next year.
Square Enix and Team Ninja are collaborating on a new Final Fantasy spinoff title. The new action RPG looks to re-imagine the original Final Fantasy and a demo is coming to the PlayStation 5 for a limited time.
PlatinumGames’ Babylon’s Fall made an appearance during Square Enix’s E3 presentation. Closed beta sign-ups are currently being taken for the co-op action RPG.
In the midst of all the bombastic announcements at Microsoft’s E3 show, Obsidian found some time to slip in an announcement for a sequel to The Outer Worlds. A very, very slight announcement.
Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle put in an appearance during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. Companion title Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will launch in 2022, with the main event Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes coming in 2023.
RPGamer’s 2020 Game of the Year is heading to new platforms. Supergiant Games’ action roguelite will launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles this August.
Microsoft’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase saw Blizzard popping up with a new trailer for Diablo II: Resurrection. More importantly, the trailer came with a release date attached.
