World of Horror Expands in As Above So Below Update
Developer panstasz and publisher Ysbryd Games have released a new free content update for horror RPG World of Horror. The “As Above So Below” update is available now on PC and Mac before it arrives on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in 2027. The update is said to expand the game by 20%, adding new events, enemies, mysteries, characters, items, spells, curses, injuries, quality-of-life features, and bug fixes.
It includes two new Old God manifestations. Ikt-Yosis, the First Nightmare, sleeps in a gargantuan chamber beneath the mountains, with each waking ritual performed reshaping the world above and bringing strange weather. Meanwhile, The War for Shiokawa sees four cults summoning their eldritch masters at the same time. New playable characters include Kiriko, a mysterious tarotist whose cards decide the town’s fate, and Satoshi, a young hiker with great knowledge of the mountains around Shiokawa. Meanwhile, a new Scenario Mode adds self-contained stories that are set before the main game, expanding upon its lore and tying mysteries together. For example, The Forest of Fear / Tapes of Tragedy scenario introduces Makoto, a student who decides to film a documentary about the oldest legend of the local forest.
World of Horror is inspired by the works of Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft. The game features fourteen playable characters investigating harrowing events around the seaside town of Shiokawa in 198X after the Old Gods return, bringing with them various unspeakable monstrosities. The game features twenty mysteries designed with replayability in mind as players fight in turn-based combat while trying to stay alive and not succumb to madness.
