I’ll open the bidding for best dinosaur in an RPG with Aerodactyl from Pokemon, but especially its Mega form from the 3DS games. It’s got everything I love in that game: fast AND hits like a truck, especially once it got actual good Rock-type moves.
Apologies in advance to everyone listening that somehow I ended up playing two games this week that both have eye-themed horror bits. If that makes you feel at all icky, maybe consider skipping this week’s episode and go watch a video of cute kitties and puppies. :D;
On the other hand, the best video game dinosaurs are all the ones I can punch in the Horizon series.
My favorite dinosaur overall is the utahraptor. I just love the idea of a massive-sized raptor.
In an RPG, my favorite dinosaur is the nameable Yoshi in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I remember being disappointed that there was no Yoshi partner in the first Paper Mario, then being so excited to see one in the sequel. I named mine Hoshi.
My favourite video game dinosaur is also from Mario – but it’s Mario himself when you turn into a T rex I’m Super Mario Odyssey. It’s such a goofy moment but also a total power trip.
On a less mainstream note, but more RPG, I also loved the saurials that turn up as one of the random events in King of Dragon Pass. It’s a rare moment of lightness in what can be a pretty grim, if great, game.
