LUCID Demo Available, New Trailers Revealed
Publisher Apogee Entertainment and solo developer The Matte Black Studio released a public demo for Metroidvania RPG LUCID. The demo, which is said to offer up to three hours of gameplay, is available on PC via Steam. In addition to a trailer showcasing the demo, the companies released a speedrunner-focused video.
LUCID follows a young sentinel named Oenn, who undergoes a perilous journey through a crystal-punk world torn apart by calamitous events. He must help out the cast of characters that crosses his path and restore balance in the fractured world. The game features pixel art and takes inspiration from Princess Mononoke as well as 2D sidescrollers such as Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, and Celeste. Players can absorb crystal arts, which are powerful abilities that can be used in both exploration and combat, with crystal shards and rare materials unlocking further customisation options. LUCID is expected to launch for PC via Steam in 2026, with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch versions planned to release later.
