Tamarak Trail Dev Diary Talks Art Inspirations

Versus Evil and Yarrow Games released the first entry in a planned series of developer diary videos for dice-building roguelike Tamarak Trail. The minute-long video shows some of the inspirations behind the game’s art style, including the Group of Seven Canadian landscape painters and a selection of other artists and set designs.

Tamarak Trail is set in a decaying world, with players controlling a member of a secret society named the Sturgeon Lodge who sets out to uncover the mystery and source of the corruption. The game’s turn-based combat makes use of customisable dice. Rolling dice determines the player’s potential actions each turn, which include direct attacks, damage over time, buffs, debuffs, and defence. As players progress, they can apply newly-gained abilities to individual sides of each die. Tamarak Trail is planned to release on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
