New Release Round-Up (March 23, 2023)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key

The third entry in the Secret sub-series, Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key takes place a year after Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, with Reisalin “Ryza” Stout returning as protagonist. While Ryza and her friends enjoy a peaceful life on Kurken Island, they learn about a new group of islands that have mysteriously appeared. Mr. Saitou

Platform: PC, Mac, Linux (included in Nintendo Switch version of Rakuen)

Mr. Saitou is a non-combat adventure from Laura Shigihara and a spin-off to previous title Rakuen, which received its own Switch port this week that comes with Mr. Saitou included. The game follows a white-collar worker who is landed in hospital and then spirited away to a fantasy world. Here he meets a friend who takes him on a life-changing adventure, which is designed to take two-to-four hours to complete.


Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

Platform: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (previously released on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch)

A follow-up to the previous game but telling its own standalone story,  Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom returns players to Ding Dong Dell, this time controlling a young boy named Evan, a deposed king who sets out to reclaim his throne. Rakuen: Deluxe Edition

Platform: Nintendo Switch (previously released on PC, Mac, and Linux)

Rakuen is an adventure title that follows a boy who lives in a hospital. He asks his mother to take him to a fantasy world from a storybook so he can ask the Guardian of the Forest for a wish. During his adventure he must complete a set of challenges revolving around helping his hospital neighbours through their fantasy world alter-egos. The Nintendo Switch Deluxe Edition release also includes new spin-off title Mr. Saitou and 3D animated series Farmer in the Sky.


Remnant: From the Ashes

Platform: Nintendo Switch (previously released on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
Publisher: THQ Nordic
Developer: Gunfire Games

Price: $39.99

Action RPG Remnant: From the Ashes features co-op for up to three players. The game is set in an alternate world 80 years after an alien force known as the Root invaded Earth. Players set out from their base in Ward 13, exploring their surroundings and fighting hostile enemies as they investigate a mysterious tower. Those looking to read more about Remnant: From the Ashes can check out Zack Webster’s review of the PC version. A sequel, Remnant II, is currently in development.


Voice of Cards Trilogy

Platform: iOS, Android (previously released on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch)
Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Square Enix, Alim
Available: Apple App Store, Google Play Store
Price: $11.99 each

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden, and Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden are set in the same world but tell standalone stories. The games feature turn-based combat, with all of the gameplay and story elements utilising the medium of cards, and each game narrated by its own game master. In addition to the mobile releases, a new Voice of Cards Trilogy bundle is now available on the games’ existing PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch platforms, and will be available for PC via Steam on March 24, 2023. The bundle is available digitally for $49.99, with another bundle including all of the games’ DLC available for $64.99.
